Spring boot with Java 8 Intellij project

Question

I want to create a Springboot project with java 8 inn Intellij but I couldn't: when i tried to create the standard way I only find Java 17 and 21 to choose from: enter image description here

After that i created a normal project with Java 21 and then tried to scale the java version down. I reconfigured the pom.xml and i got this error:

    Please remove or make sure it appears in the correct subdirectory of the classpath.

ps: I have Java 8 and Maven 3.8.5 installed.

I tried scaling down the java version to 1.8 and added maven compiler 1.8

any idea ? thank you
