JTree selection issue

I have a JTree which with node containing label and CheckBoxListExComboBox (Jide component- JComboBox with checkboxes).The UI renders properly but when i click on the combobox i get the following exception-

I understand the code is trying to access the index which does not exist but dont know how to resolve this issue. can anyone guide me on this ? Thanks for the help.
