has anyone tried putting a cell in jupyter 7 that can handle streaming data?

Please note I am asking if this CAN be done NOT how to do it.

I am about to try jupyter 7 and I think it should be able to handle streaming data which updates a cell. So I would set up a stream of price from a data source which updates a datastructure in the cell once every second. There might be 20 symbols in the data structure. The feed would come in as a structured ZMQ message which would be parsed and used to update the change inside the cell. So the structure might look like this

symbol price
AAPL 100
DE 232
TSLA 1000

a new ZMQ ipm would come in reflecting a change in DE's price

DE 250

the cell structure would then look like this ( auto refresh )

symbol price
AAPL 100
DE 250
TSLA 1000

My understanding is the jupyter uses ZMQ under the hood and jupyter 7 has a collaboration mode that might help me here.
