2.6k views Asked by At

I am using Eclipse Indigo, i got a premgen space erorr, for that i go to eclipse.ini file and make the memory space their 512M, in place of 256.

From that this, now mu eclipse hangs, and is behaving unexpectedly. The eclipse.ini file is

    -startup
plugins/org.eclipse.equinox.launcher_1.2.0.v20110502.jar
--launcher.library
plugins/org.eclipse.equinox.launcher.win32.win32.x86_1.1.100.v20110502
-product
org.eclipse.epp.package.jee.product
--launcher.defaultAction
openFile
--launcher.XXMaxPermSize
512M
-showsplash
org.eclipse.platform
--launcher.XXMaxPermSize
512m--launcher.defaultAction
openFile
-vmargs
-Dosgi.requiredJavaVersion=1.5
-Xms40m
-Xmx512m

The log file shows thos error.

I changed my ini file to include this

 -startup
plugins/org.eclipse.equinox.launcher_1.2.0.v20110502.jar
--launcher.library
plugins/org.eclipse.equinox.launcher.win32.win32.x86_1.1.100.v20110502
-product
org.eclipse.epp.package.jee.product
--launcher.defaultAction
openFile
--launcher.XXMaxPermSize
1024M
-showsplash
org.eclipse.platform
--launcher.XXMaxPermSize
1024m--launcher.defaultAction
openFile
-vmargs
-Dosgi.requiredJavaVersion=1.5
-Xms40m
-Xmx512m

and now eclipse is working fine. This is due to the memory space error, As i increased the memory, it works.

For the benefit of others having the same issue with Eclipse Version: 2020-03 (4.15.0) Build id: 20200313-1211.

The tool tips providing quick fixes became unusable as they immediately disappeared when attempting to hover over them.

In the logs I saw this message:

    eclipse.buildId=4.15.0.I20200305-0155
java.version=14

BootLoader constants: OS=win32, ARCH=x86_64, WS=win32, NL=en_US

The solution in my case was a configuration change Windows=>Preferences=>Type Hover and change as shown enter image description here
