i even tried to use an ODBC Data Source, with the: MySQL ODBC 5.1 Driver

when creating it in the hosting management panel i check the connection to the hosted DB and it works, but i can't figure out how to modify the web.config file \ connection string, to work with this odbc data source.

these are the odbc settingsenter image description here

(tried with option 3 as well) I tried to change my connection string to something like this:

    <add name="worktimedbEntities" connectionString="metadata=res://*/Models.TimeModel.csdl|res://*/Models.TimeModel.ssdl|res://*/Models.TimeModel.msl;provider=MySql.Data.MySqlClient;provider connection string="Driver={MySQL ODBC 5.1 Driver};Server=some.server.address;Database=db_time;
User=nick;Password=i51948273;"" providerName="System.Data.EntityClient" />
  </connectionStrings>

but i get the same error.

any help would be appreciated as i've been at it for hours and am no closer to figuring it out.

edit: i also tried adding references to: MySql.Data.dll, the MySql.Data.Entity.dll and MySql.Web.dll as suggested here: Unable to find the requested .Net Framework Data Provider. It may not be installed
