Task 'assemble' not found in root project for Android Studio 3.1.4 with Cordova

695 views Asked by At

I was developping a Cordova app in Visual Studio 2017 and after wanting to use Firebase and running into multiple issues, I was told that I should transfer to using Android Studio instead. The app is already published and was working fine (except for notifications) in Visual Studio.

I have made all the steps to install and configure cordova and Android Studio on my computer. I made a copy of my VS app folder, and there ran cordova to prepare, build, etc and it does it successfully.

I imported the project in Android Studio, where I cannot manage to Run the app. I figured I need to first do "Make Project", but when I try I get the error : Task 'assemble' not found in root project

I tried everything I could from the questions asked about it here but I cannot seem to figure out what is wrong.

This is my build.gradle file at the root (platforms/android folder):

buildscript {
    repositories {
        google()
        jcenter()
        maven { url 'https://maven.fabric.io/public' }

There is also a build.gradle file in the CordovaLib folder (for Cordova, are both used? Which one is important?)

This is my settings.gradle in case it helps :

// GENERATED FILE - DO NOT EDIT
include ":"
include ":CordovaLib"
include ":app"

If you require to see anything else I can provide other files, I am still pretty new at app development and I'm not sure what the migration from Visual Studio 2017 to Android Studio really implies and could not find any good guide about it online.
