We have a database built on Microsoft SQL Server 2017 Enterprise, my future hosting provider can only provide SQL Server 2014. My question here is: how much is SQL Server 2017 backwards compatible with SQL Server 2014, as far as I know backwards compatibility in general on any software is something that is really specific.

I know that it will depend on a lot of variables and also to it’s application and what it will be used for, but can I receive at least some generic information for compatibility levels.
