Maven: how to prevent exec plugin to display its stack trace?

The simple maven exec plugin below displays a stack trace that is making it hard for my users to understand what is happening. How to prevent the stack trace and have a cleaner output?

Here is the simple pom.xml with a forced failure executing the command false:

<project xmlns="http://maven.apache.org/POM/4.0.0"
    xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance" xsi:schemaLocation="http://maven.apache.org/POM/4.0.0 http://maven.apache.org/xsd/maven-4.0.0.xsd">
    <modelVersion>4.0.0</modelVersion>
    <groupId>br.com.comp</groupId>
    <artifactId>Bdm</artifactId>
    <version>1.0</version>
    <description>Validating</description>

    <build>
        <plugins>
            <plugin>
                <groupId>org.codehaus.mojo</groupId>
                <artifactId>exec-maven-plugin</artifactId>
                <version>1.6.0</version>

                <executions>
                    <execution>
                        <id>Validate</id>
                        <phase>compile</phase>
                        <goals>
                            <goal>exec</goal>
                        </goals>
                    </execution>
                </executions>
                <configuration>
                    <executable>false</executable>
                    <includeProjectDependencies>false</includeProjectDependencies>
                    <includePluginDependencies>false</includePluginDependencies>
                </configuration>

            </plugin>
        </plugins>
    </build>
</project>

And here is the dirty output:

This stack trace is of the maven exec plugin, no info is useful for my users. How to prevent the display of everything between the first [ERROR] and the next [INFO]?

Maven 3.1+ uses the slf4j-simple implementation of the SLF4J Api by default. This is not very customizable. You could try disable logging completely for this plugin by editing simple.logger.properties. Normally located at: ${maven.home}/conf/logging/simplelogger.properties

Add the following line to disable logging for that plugin. This will still result in initial error in output but hide the full stack trace

org.slf4j.simpleLogger.log.org.codehaus.mojo.exec.ExecMojo=OFF

Its not a very clean solution as this may hide useful output too.

If you want to further format the output consider moving to a more advanced logger.
