How to run Selenium WebDriver on a docker container and use it on Airflow?

699 views Asked by At

I am trying to run webdriver on a docker container without success. Docker is running on a Windows machine.

Below is the simple DAG that I am using.

from airflow import DAG
from airflow.operators.python import PythonOperator
from datetime import datetime

from selenium import webdriver
from selenium.webdriver.chrome.service import Service as ChromiumService
from selenium.webdriver.chrome.service import Service as ChromeService
from webdriver_manager.chrome import ChromeDriverManager
from webdriver_manager.core.utils import ChromeType

with DAG(
    dag_id='webdriver_testv01',
    start_date=datetime(2022, 5, 5),
    schedule_interval='@once',
    catchup=False
) as dag:
    pass

def webdriver_import():

    driver = webdriver.Chrome(service=ChromiumService(ChromeDriverManager(chrome_type=ChromeType.CHROMIUM).install()))
    driver.get("http://www.python.org")
    result = driver.title
    return result

with DAG(
    dag_id='webdriver_testv01',
    start_date=datetime(2022, 5, 5),
    schedule_interval='@once',
    catchup=False
) as dag:

    webdriverget = PythonOperator(
        task_id = 'get_the_webdriver',
        python_callable = webdriver_import
    )

Which fails due to the following error:

I'm not sure what is going wrong here. I have tried all the different browser options listed on https://pypi.org/project/webdriver-manager/ without success.

Could be that the webdriver needs an executable path to run? I'm not sure how to do that either since this is a docker container.
