I have a mobile app developed using phonegap. It was originally deployed to the ios and android platforms, but now we are trying to deploy it to the browser platform.

Every time I make changes to my app and redeploy it (on nginx), I would like the users' browsers to update to the latest version.

I have found lots of solutions to this issue that involve changing the names of my js and css files to force an update, but I was hoping that phonegap had some kind of built-in solution for this.

Is there some way to tell phonegap to build in such a way that browsers will automatically grab my new version?

I experimented with changing the version number in my package.json. I think that worked once, but it doesn't seem to work consistently. So, is there a "correct" way to do this?
