Could not install erdpy - no module named 'ledgercomm'

Question

When I try to install erdpy, it fails with the following message:

ModuleNotFoundError: No module named 'ledgercomm'
CRITICAL:installer:Could not install erdpy.

I follow the steps from here.

Running:

How can I fix this?

Please make sure to update your python installation.

The ledgercomm package requires at least python 3.8 as can be seen on the package site.

Otherwise it can't be installed and will lead to the error you encountered.
